Good Morning! Well yesterday was just one of those days..You know the ones I mean, the ones that just seem to drag you down, discourage you. For me, a day of frustration where I just couldn’t get my point across. Truth was bubbling in this tired, heavy, very pregnant body but I couldn’t express it. Then I realized that God was doing a work. He was calling me to sit in quiet for greater reasons than I could understand. I spent the next few hours puzzled.
It wasn’t until God used a friend to remind me of a truth that I have relied on throughout my walk of Obedience in Christ so many times. A text at 9:45 pm “I am prompted to send you Isaiah 43:10 Love you! Ahhh there it was. I didn’t have to look it up. I knew the scripture but I was prompted to anyways and there it faithfully read, “You are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and BELIEVE IN ME, and understand that I am He: before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after ME.
There came the wave of encouragement to my soul! You are my witnesses, God is making a bold statement and claiming us personally as His own. “YOU ARE MY” and MY servant whom I HAVE CHOSEN. John 15:16 says “you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained (appointed) you that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit will remain, and whatever you ask of the Father in my name (Jesus) He may give it to you.” And the last part of the scripture, ” that you may know and believe in me…” God is saying trust me, Believe in me. I have started a good work and I will finish it (Philippians 1:6) Hallelujah!! I think we can all rest in that!
What does it mean to be a witness? Dictionaries will define witness as evidence, proof, to see an event and testify to it. Though the leading of my Lord let me define what I believe a witness is:
Going forth with exuberance and telling everyone in sight about our Lord! Do we have to be a fancy billboard or sign, wear fancy clothes or drive fancy cars to advertise His worth? No. A trick of the enemy is to make us think we have to be in competition with each other, yes even our churches. I’m beginning to see that this type of witnessing does more harm than good. The Lord says in Acts 1:8 “You shall be witnesses unto Me” This is no way depends upon man’s devices. The Holy Spirit resides in every genuine child of God and grace and He (Spirit) is the witness for Jesus Christ. We just provide the vehicle and anyone who comes in contact with what I just explained will be affected to the degree and purpose to which God intends. Praise!
