“Our feet have been standing within your gates, oh Jerusalem! ” Psalm 122:2
As we walked into the Old City of Jerusalem, I had no idea that the beautiful ancient limestone would have such an affect on me. We went underground and walked along the western wall of the Temple Mount . Here we saw some of the actual stone that King Herod brought there to build the city.
Suddenly, our teacher said look down at your feet. This is the actual stone Jesus walked on and look behind you, these are the actual columns that stood when he walked by.
For me, everything stopped. Tears begin to fall. I didn’t even realize our group had moved on “Jeannie let’s go”. Then we made our way outside. As we rested our leader taught us about the western wall. He then prayed for us individually under the Israel Flag. The power of the Holy Spirit was so strong that strangers, not even a part of our group came over and asked to be prayed for. Then we were released to go to the wall to pray. I covered my head and headed down to the Wall. When I got there I began to pray. I was uncontrollably sobbing as I felt the Lord’s presence so strongly. I began to see faces of people that I knew He wanted me to pray for. I hid my written prayer requests in the wall as so many were doing. I did not expect the Western Wall to affect me so strongly. It’s no wonder why so many come and stand hours after hours every day to pray at its very existence. I marveled over the fact that people from all over the world are magnetized to this place to pray. It is said that miracles happen on that wall and that God is very attentive to the prayers He hears from there. It is Holy. He says “I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. ” 2 Chronicles 7:12. Wow! God’s presence is so powerfully strong on that Wall.
